This Privacy Policy explains how Bedford Market Intelligence ("Bedford", "we") handles information in connection with the Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — the email address you register and a securely hashed password. Passwords are salted and scrypt-hashed; we never store them in plain text.
- Usage & security data — session activity and login attempts (including IP address) used to keep your account secure and to enforce rate limiting.
2. Public regulatory data
The intelligence in the Service is derived from publicly available regulatory filings (SEC / IAPD Form ADV and related records). It includes individual advisor records — names, estimated age (inferred from public registration history), and their firm's public ADV contact details (phone, website) — used to support succession / M&A outreach. All of it is public record data, and contact details are firm-level, not personal. If you use the Service to contact advisors, you are responsible for complying with applicable solicitation, do-not-call, and privacy laws.
3. How we use information
- To authenticate you and provide the Service.
- To secure accounts (session management, brute-force protection).
- To communicate transactional messages such as password resets and verification.
4. Cookies
We use a strictly necessary, httpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in, and a companion CSRF-protection cookie. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers strictly to operate the Service (e.g., hosting, transactional email), under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
6. Data retention & security
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. We apply encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed credentials, and access controls to protect your data.
